The SADC Human Resources and Experts Meeting was held in Johannesburg, South Africa from the 6th to the 9th of October 2014. It was attended by Mr P. Mohamudally, Deputy Director of the Regional Integration Division along with Mrs R. Ramrukheea, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade. The meeting had basically three main outcomes:
(i) The drafting of long-term employment contract framework for professional staff (Senior Officers/Officers, excluding the Executive Secretary, Deputy Executive Secretaries and Directors) and also the local staff;

Mauritius is preparing for the Trade Policy Review this year, which involves the preparation of a Report by Government and an independent Report by the WTO Secretariat.
In this regard, a team from the Trade Policy Review Division of the WTO Secretariat will visit Mauritius on 23-27 June 2014. The purpose of this visit is to examine the chapters of the Secretariat report with concerned Ministries/Organisations to ensure that there are no factual omissions and to finalise the report.
Mauritius and Turkey are implementing a Free Tree Agreement as from 01 June 2014. As part of the transparency mechanism of the WTO, the Agreement has to be notified to the WTO. A joint notification of the Agreement was made in October 2013.
A meeting is planned in Geneva at the WTO Secretariat from 23-24 June 2014 to examine the Agreement. Mr A. Bhuglah, Director, Trade Policy from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade as well as a representative from our Mission in Geneva will be attending the meeting at the WTO.
